In the rural villages of Takeo Province, where the silk industry has traditionally flourished in Cambodia, self-sufficient home handicrafts are actively practiced. Each family raises silkworms, boils the cocoons, spins the raw silk, dyes the yarn with natural dyes such as plants and trees, and weaves several meters of silk fabric on a loom at home over several dozen days. The silk fabric is then sewn by hand by craftsmen in NGO workshops, and each piece is carefully finished.
