Akira Yamaguchi
Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1969. D. in oil painting from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He uses oil painting to create humorous works that weave contemporary figures and landscapes into images of the East and West in a technique reminiscent of Ukiyoe and Yamato-e. He is active in a wide range of genres, including book binding and fusuma-e (sliding door paintings). His representative works include [Standing Statue of the Four Heavenly Kings][Department Store Illustration: Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi].
