Description
**~ Kasama ware, cherry blossom series, square plate ~*-- Kasama-yaki made in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture Kasama ware made in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan; The warmth of ceramic ware is perfect for accenting your dining table. It can be used for various occasions from daily use to entertaining. *Size and shade of glaze may vary due to handmade. The characteristic of Kasama-yaki is its durable finish made of gairo-me clay, which is sticky and fine-grained. It is durable and resistant to stains, and is widely used for kitchen utensils such as water jars and tea pots, as well as other miscellaneous daily-use vessels. Because frog-eye clay contains high iron content and turns brown after firing, decorative techniques such as pouring glaze and overglaze painting are used rather than neat painting. In addition to the wide variety of decorative techniques, the region has a free climate, and the charm of Kasama-yaki lies in the fact that each potter can express his or her own individuality without being bound by tradition or formality. Today, Kasama-yaki is widely used for vases, interior decorations, and art objects, and potters continue to maintain the high quality of their work while carrying on the traditions of the Edo period. |

Each piece is fired differently depending on the fire, temperature, and humidity in the kiln, resulting in different shades of color, glaze buildup and dripping, and uneven surfaces.
Due to the nature of the ware, pinholes (small holes) and iron powder may appear, but these are not a problem when using the ware. Please enjoy them as a characteristic of the glaze and its taste. Pottery has water absorbency. Soak it in rice brine or water before use to prevent stains and tea stains.
