Description
*Reduced folding screen [Important Cultural Property, Illustration of the Summer Battle of Osaka]* Edo period, Osaka Castle Museum This is a series of masterpieces on folding screens related to battles, published by Convenience Store. This folding screen depicts the Battle of Osaka in the summer of 1615, especially the decisive battle on May 7. This folding screen was painted by Nagamasa Kuroda (son of Kanpei Kuroda), who fought in the battle, before his death, and was handed down to the Kuroda family of the Fukuoka domain. The distinctive feature of this painting is that it not only depicts the bravery and courage of the warriors, but also clearly depicts the people of Osaka Castle who were fleeing from the enemy. It is not merely a commemoration of victory, but also shows Nagamasa's feelings. |
