| We have created very beautiful colored lacquer chopsticks. The fine lacquer coating looks beautiful and the texture of holding the chopsticks in your hand feels soft and comfortable. Specialty #1 (Work before lacquering)A traditional Kiso craftsman first files the beautifully finished wooden surface to make it even smoother. This is a time-consuming but important process to eliminate any unevenness in the finished product. Next, the corners of the chopsticks are also sanded to ensure that the colored lacquer is of uniform thickness. Specialty #2 (middle coating) After the middle coating is applied and the lacquer dries, the surface is polished to check for scratches. If there are any scratches, the surface is repaired with rusted clay to remove any irregularities. This process is repeated three times. Dried lacquer is very hard, and sharpening is a difficult process. The progress of the work also depends on the climate, as the speed at which the lacquer dries varies depending on the climate. Specialty #3 (final top coat) The top coat is applied with great care to prevent dust, etc. from entering. The beautifully colored lacquered chopsticks are completed through many handcrafted processes.
