These chopsticks are made of a wood called tetsu-oki, which has a hard, strong trunk like iron. The handle is finished with dry lacquer coating, in which dried lacquer powder is sprinkled on the handle and coated with lacquer. The rough texture, durability, and non-slip nature of the dry lacquer coating are the characteristics of this technique. The tips of the chopsticks have a frosted lacquer finish that brings out the texture of the wood grain.
