Fukiko Okada(Author)

This book traces the path of playwright* Riseo Kishida, who ran the "Theatre Experiment Room" and then moved on to the "Transnational Theatre Series". This is the first full-scale research book in Japan that analyzes the transition of his theatrical world, using valuable primary sources such as his handwritten notes, diary, and handwritten scripts.

This is the first full-scale study of the dramatic world of Risei Kishida (1946-2003), one of the most important playwrights in contemporary Japanese theater, but until now there has been no comprehensive study of his work. While tracing her diverse talents in poetry, fiction, translation, film, and performing arts in addition to drama, the book also sheds light on her works from the 1970s, 1990s, and 2000s, which have not been covered in previous research, and examines them. Includes an unpublished early play [Legend of the Flood].

Introduction: To get to know the playwright [Risei Kishida
Chapter 1: Unpublished Early Works: Application of Terayama Theory and an Attempt to Construct a Unique Dramatic World
Chapter 2: A Gaze at Modern Japan
Chapter 3 In Search of a Different Language
