「名樹散椿」は重要文化財に指定されている。
俵屋宗達、尾形光琳など琳派の装飾的画面構成をはじめ、
西洋の写実的技法など一つの絵画様式にとらわれることなく、
様々な画風を生涯追求し写実の表現に抽象性と
装飾性を取り入れた作風を作り上げた。
腸チフスにより40歳の若さで急逝した。
