Edo faceting, a traditional handicraft designated by the government, is a traditional handicraft of downtown Tokyo that has continued since the Edo period.

The glass is melted at 1,350 degrees Celsius, and then skillfully finished into a double structure of clear and colored glass. Edo faceted glass craftsmen with skillful techniques carefully cut (shave) each piece of glass one by one.

The cut glass reveals the inner transparent glass through the colored glass on the surface, and the wonderful contrast between the transparent and colored glass is highlighted by the traditional patterns and hana-kiriko designs.
