宜興はイーシンと中国で発音するので
イーシンティーポットとして世界中に普及しています。
日本では、茶注・茶銚と呼ばれていました。
日本でも室町時代から宜興の茶壺が輸入され、それは明治時代まで続き、
後手型の茶壺は日本の茶注の手本にもなり各産地で作られました。
また江戸時代には、横手の茶注が作られるようになりました。
現在流通している横手の茶注は江戸時代以後に作られたもので、
その後日本の茶注の主流になり『急須』と呼ばれるようになりました。
こちらの商品は陶器製による焼物です。
陶器の原料は粘土なので、本来吸水性があるものです。
