Description
Special Feature Japanese Art, the Forefront! Will Artists Living Post 3.11 Renew Art? Young artists are accelerating the pace of contemporary* art in Japan. In this special issue, we take a closer look at their exciting works and their awareness of the issues involved. Primary galleries are making their presence felt. The term "contemporary art bubble" was also heard in Japan in the 1990s. However, after the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, the landscape of Japan changed drastically. Of course, artists were not immune. In PART 1, curators Ryuta Ugi (Chim↑Pom) and Yohei Kurose (Chaos*Lounge) introduce young artists of note. The exhibition will feature artists who are quick to respond to the shaking of society and create vivid works, as well as artists who are active in their own unique ways and are active in alternative forms of transportation. The alternative spirit of artists who work in their own unique ways is Will they bring about a paradigm shift in Japanese art? In PART 2, up-and-coming artists who are leading the art scene will appear. In their own words, the artists will talk about their expression that confronts the current era. In addition, we will present a roundtable discussion and a column that explores the current cultural trends in Japan. Let's embark on a journey to enjoy and think about the art of our time to the fullest!   PART 1 : New Generation Artist Curatorial Showdown!
