Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, celebrates 360 years since the opening of the Kutani kiln. Kutani-yaki was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition and became famous throughout the world as Japan*Kutani, and has been collected by famous museums around the world, including the British Museum and the Louvre. Artist*Kiln:Tomio Sawada (Homitsu) This is a design of cobblestone pavement that first appeared in the Ko-Kutani period. This piece has been imitated by famous artists such as Tokuda Yajukichi I and II, and has been passed down through the generations to the present day. This piece was created by Tomio Sawada, a traditional craftsman* and a first-class overglaze painting artist. |
