Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, celebrates 360 years since the opening of the Kutani kiln. Kutani-yaki was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition and became famous throughout the world as Japan*Kutani, and has been collected by famous museums around the world, including the British Museum and the Louvre.

This rock glass is made by blending the normally milky white Kutani Yaki stone base [to bring out the original white of the Kutani Yaki base] and achieving a sharp, edgy cut.
It is heavier than it looks but has good stability because it is hand towed and has a thicker bottom and center of gravity. Since the base is made thicker, heat from the hand is less likely to be transferred, a feature that makes it resistant to changes in outside temperature.
