Description
Edo faceting, a traditional handicraft designated by the national government, is a traditional handicraft of downtown Tokyo that has been produced since the Edo period (1603-1868). The glass is melted at 1,350 degrees Celsius, and then cut (shaved) carefully one by one by a skilled Edo-kiriko craftsman. The cut glass reveals the inner transparent glass through the colored glass on the surface, creating a wonderful contrast between the transparent and colored glass and highlighting the traditional patterns and hana-kiriko designs. |
