Oribe-colored Coffee Bowl SETOKARA × Mugiyama Kiln

Oribe-colored coffee bowl of Seto ware, a harmony of tradition and modern sensibility. The deep green color sprayed on the pebble-like texture of the Iga base material expresses the Oribe flavor handed down from the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the modern age.

The rough texture of the outside and the smoothness of the mouth are pleasant, and naturally make you want to pick up the bowl. It features a beautiful silhouette with a rounded form and legs, and its Japanese taste and modern design are in perfect harmony. The cup is designed with a small diameter to prevent the coffee from getting cold.

With a capacity of approximately 170 ml, it is just the right size for a morning cup of coffee or for relaxing in the evening.

Oribe ware was created by the tea master* Furuta Oribe, and is characterized by its green glaze that expresses young leaves sprouting and nature. It gained popularity in the Momoyama culture, and its free and creative style was passed down as "Oribe's taste.

This coffee bowl was carefully fired one by one by craftsmen at Mugiyama Kiln, established in 1922 in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. Hundreds of combinations of shapes and glazes were tried and tested to create this special SETOKARA-only bowl.

Care was taken in the selection of the clay, and firing at a high temperature of 1,320 degrees Celsius burns out impurities in the clay, increasing strength and durability. Because firing at this high temperature is time-consuming and costly, other kilns tend to shy away from this process, but Mugiyama Kiln pursues quality without compromise.

The back of the piece is stamped with the Mugiyama Kiln mark, and some parts are unglazed to prevent baking on the shelves. Because they are handmade, there are individual differences in color and texture, but each has the charm of a one-of-a-kind piece.

Microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. We recommend this bowl for daily use or as a gift for a loved one.

Please enjoy a special moment with the Oribe-colored coffee bowl.
