| The traditional type of Koi Noboris (carp streamers) set up in the garden are very powerful, and children will be very happy to see them swimming in the May wind. However, due to recent housing conditions, carp streamers for indoor use or for balconies have become the mainstream. Among them, we have decided to produce wooden carp streamers for indoor use. The Koi Noboris made by wood craftsmen in the Miyajima-zaiku tradition are cylindrical in shape, while the mainstream Koi Noboris are board-shaped. The wood is made to resemble a true carp* and a scarlet carp by using the original color of the wood without using synthetic coloring agents. The finished carp streamers highlight the beauty of the natural materials, creating the warmth of the wood and harmony with the surroundings. The use of local wood (mainly hinoki) makes the carp streamers environmentally friendly as well. With its natural texture and warmth, the wooden carp streamer is an item that has an appeal suited to modern life while respecting traditional Japanese culture. Wooden Koi Noboris harmonize well with a variety of rooms, such as Japanese traditional spaces with tatami mats and sliding doors, Scandinavian style where natural taste using a lot of wood is popular, and minimalistic, sophisticated, simple modern spaces. 宮島細工の流れを汲む木工職人が手掛ける鯉のぼりは、板状の鯉のぼりが主流の中、円柱状の形をしています。また、合成着色料を使用せず木材が持つ本来の色を活かし、寄木にすることで真鯉・緋鯉をイメージしています。出来上がった鯉のぼりは、自然素材の美しさが際立ち、木のぬくもりと周りとの調和を生み出しています。地元の木材(主にひのき)を使用することで、環境にも優しい鯉のぼりになっています。
