Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was one of the most famous ukiyoe artists of the late Edo period, especially famous for his "Kanagawa-oki Namiura" from the "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" series. He was active in a wide range of fields, including landscapes, portraits of beautiful women, and illustrations for picture books, and continued to work until he was nearly 90 years old.
