■水牛の角から作られました
写真を見ても、実際に手に取ってみても、言われなければこれが水牛の角から作られているなんて判りません。知らない人に素材を聞くと「プラスチックかな？」、「あ、知ってる！ べっ甲でしょう？」なんて答えが返って来るのですが、実際に素材を説明するとビックリされます。素材の透明感や、持った時の軽さ、加工の美しさからは水牛の角だとは全く想像ができません。
この商品はベトナムで食肉用や労役用として数多く飼育されているベトナム水牛を肉にした際、副産物として角が余るのですが、その余った角を使って作られている一品です。
角をバンドソーと呼ばれる機械で切って、油につけて柔らかくして、平たくしてから形を作って…といろいろな工程を経て作られます。ティラキタでは実際にこの水牛の角のカトラリーがどのようにして作られるかを見てきました！！
