| Calendar for 2024 [folk craft Enshu pongee]. This is a popular standard product of Hitoshi Yamamoto Shoten, "Kakejiku Calendar" with a motif of the Chinese zodiac of the year. The 12-month calendar is made of Enshu cotton pongee, a fabric produced in and around Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The taste and simplicity of folk crafts are perfect for interior decoration. The Chinese zodiac sign for the year 2025 is the Year of the Snake. The year of the snake is also called the year of the snake. The Chinese character for "snake" is a hieroglyphic character that represents the shape of a fetus, and is said to originate from the way the uterus envelops the fetus. It is also said to mean "a new seed is born" as the snake wakes up from hibernation and crawls out of the womb. |

巳年は、西暦を12で割った際、余りが9となる年で、へび年とも呼ばれます。漢字の「巳」は胎児の形を表した象形文字で、子宮が胎児を包む様子が由来とされています。また巳が冬眠から目覚め地上に這い出すことから「新しい種子が生まれる」意味があると言われています。
