It has been used for arrowheads, knives, and other tools since ancient times. The outside of the obsidian is scratched and whitened by the river, but there are some with a faintly black vitreous quality that can be seen from the outside. 約150万年前、大雪山の激しい火山活動によって生まれたオブシディアンです。
昔から「矢じり」や「ナイフ」などの道具に加工され、親しまれてきました。
川を流れて外側は傷がついて白っぽくなりますが、かすかに真っ黒なガラス質が外から見えるものもあります。
その中でも赤いものを地元では「ヴァーミリオンオブシディアン」と読み、今では希少になっています。
