The greatest feature of Z Gauge is that you can enjoy a layout as small as A4 size by taking advantage of the precision and smallness of the 1/220 size. A rich lineup of railcars, rails, structures, accessories, etc. are available! [Features of the product and how to use it] The Series 489 Limited-Express is based on the Series 485 Limited-Express and is equipped with a cooperative operation system with an EF63 electric locomotive in order to pass through the steep gradient section between Yokogawa and Karuizawa on the Shin-Etsu Main Line. Around 1989, after the privatization of Japan National Railways, it was renewed to the Hakusan color of Oyster White * Rose * Light Group Blue * Light Cobalt Blue. As a limited express [Hakusan] train, it operated until the Nagano Shinkansen opened in 1997. The full formation can be made by combining a basic set and an extra set. The minimum running radius is R95 (R195 when the first car is connected). |

489系特急形車両は485系特急形電車をベースとして、信越本線横川－軽井沢間の急勾配区間を通過する為、EF63形電気機関車との協調運転装置を搭載した車両です。
国鉄民営化後の1989年頃、オイスターホワイト・バラ色・薄群青色・ライトコバルトブルーの白山色にリニューアルされました。
特急「白山」としては1997年の長野新幹線開業まで運転されました。
基本セットと増結セットを組み合わせてフル編成にできます。
最小走行半径はR95となります（先頭車連結時はR195）。
