Unlike Japan, floors in India are concrete or dirt floors, so floor mats are always necessary. Usually, dalies are woven using threads of different colors, but this one is a simple dally with wood blocks and decorative stitching unique to Jaipur. It goes well with wooden flooring and tatami mats, and can be used in both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Although it is ethnic, it is not too assertive, which is a nice point. 帆布織りのしっかりしたコットンにトライバルなデザインがマッチした素敵なラグがインド・ジャイプールから届きました。
インドには昔から伝わるフロアマットの伝統があり、「ダリー」と呼ばれています。インドの床は日本と違ってそのままコンクリートだったり、土の床なので、フロアマットが必ず必要なのですね。
通常、ダリーは異なる色の糸を使って織られますが、こちらはシンプルなダリーにジャイプールならではのウッドブロックと飾り縫いを施した一品です。
フローリングや畳とも相性がよく、洋室・和室どちらともマッチ。エスニックではありますが主張が強すぎないのが嬉しいポイントですね。リビングやキッチンに敷くのはもちろん、ソファカバーにも使えます。
