| *Design that does not fit the Japanese sensibility This is a large poster (approx. 50cm x 70cm) with the word WELCOME printed very loudly. This poster is full of designs that would not first come to mind for Japanese sensibilities. The combination and gradation of the extreme colors, the characters with strong contrasts, the birds with motifs of peace, freedom, and love, the gorgeously dressed beautiful Indian women, the flowers, and so on, all create a very lively atmosphere. In India, they seem to be pasted on the eaves of stores. Also, there are many symmetrical designs. The Taj Mahal stands inside a heart, a pigeon surrounded by flowers, a parrot and a peacock face each other, and a bright red heart stands in the center. とても派手にWELCOMEと印刷された、約50cmx70cmの大判ポスターです。
このポスター、日本人の感性ではまず浮かんでこないデザインばかりです。極彩色の色の組み合わせとそのグラデーション、コントラストが強いキャラクターや、平和や自由や愛のモチーフの鳥が並んでいたり、豪華に着飾った美しいインド人女性が並んでいたり、花が並んでいたりとても賑やかな気分になります。インドではお店の軒先に貼ったりするようです。あとシンメトリーなデザインが多いんです。
ハートの中にタージマハルが建っていたり、花に囲まれたハトやオウムと孔雀が向かい合って、その中心には真っ赤なハートが佇んでいたり、色やデザインともにカオスな感じです。ポスターから垣間見えるインド人の感性や大切にしているものが見えるのも面白いですね。や
