[Sanganeer Handicrafts] In the city of Sanganeer in the Indian state of Rajasthan, there are many woodblock print and screen print factories. Screen-printing is a rhythmic, labor-intensive process that requires two people working in pairs. The pattern is added to a large, wide sheet of fabric in a single, quiet movement. This work is said to be done by staring at the sky. Moisture can cause uneven colors and blotches, so they wait until it has not rained for a few days before working. The finished fabric is then dried under the powerful Indian sun. The forces of nature and man go hand in hand to create many wonderful patterns. [Aiming to create a place where people from all walks of life can work together.] Many of the women at Creative*Handicraft have experienced severe husband violence and extreme poverty. They come here from rural areas where they only understand the local language, lack education and training opportunities, and don't even know how to get out of poverty, to receive training, gain confidence and friends, and gradually begin to live a life of hope. At Creative* Handicraft, there is never any discrimination based on gender, race, caste, or religion, even in Indian society where discrimination based on caste still remains. We aim to be a place where all people have equal opportunities to work, including a non-discrimination policy that applies to all staff, and we place great importance on embodying fair trade in its various aspects. インドのラジャスタン州、サンガネールという街には、木版プリントや、スクリーンプリントの工場が並びます。
スクリーンプリントは、二人一組でのリズミカルな力作業。
大きく大きく広げた生地のうえに、しゅっしゅっと模様が足されていきます。
この仕事は、空とのにらめっこだそうです。
湿気があると、色ムラ、滲みの原因になるので、雨が数日降らない日を待って作業をおこないます。
出来上がった生地は、インドのパワフル太陽のもとで、からりと乾かして。
自然と人間の力が手をつないで、たくさんの素敵な模様が生まれるのです。

クリエイティブ・ハンディクラフトに集まる女性たちの中には、夫からの激しい暴力や極端な貧困を経験してきた人が大勢います。
彼女たちは、田舎から出て来たばかりで地方の言葉しか分からなかったり、教育や訓練の機会に恵まれず、貧困から抜け出す方法すら分からないような状態からここに集まり、訓練を受け、自信と仲間を得て、徐々に希望のある生活を送り始めています。
クリエイティブ・ハンディクラフトでは、いまだにカーストによる差別が残るインド社会の中でも、性別、人種、カースト、宗教などで差別されることは決してありません。
