Description
This is a brass keychain featuring a realistic brass model of the Series 285 Sunrise, Series 0 Shinkansen, and Type 923 Doctor Yellow. The production process started with the creation of a mold to precisely trace the images onto an acrylic plate, using materials provided by Central Japan Railway Company. The craftsman's spirit can be felt in the attention to detail in reproducing the smooth curves of the body and the unevenness of the surface, all done by hand. After going through a process called flexion pressing, in which the mold is pressed against the brass material with strong force to transfer the engraved details, it is pulled out, polished, and finished off beautifully with plating. The friction press process is a product that cannot be faked because of the skill and materials used in making the mold. |
