| *Hanging with handmade bells Hanging with bells made of copper came from India. The motifs of animals such as elephants, owls, birds, the sun (surya) and the moon (chandra) are matched with the bells, which ring with a lovely tinkling sound when you shake them. The hanging is all handmade, one by one, so you can feel the rustic warmth and gentleness of this product. The rugged texture is very attractive. The parts surrounding the bell pendulum and the part that serves as the lid at the top. All other parts are made by beating and combining them mainly with a hammer. This amount of time and effort is what gives it this unique texture and gentle tone. *Traditional painting method The unique antique gold color is not a common coating method. Copper plating is necessary not only for its beautiful appearance but also for its longevity, but it is a primitive plating process that has been used since ancient times. First, a bell or other object that has been shaped is dipped in a muddy solution, and copper or other metal powder is applied to the bell by entangling it in the muddy solution. 銅製のベル付きのハンギングがインドからやって来ました。
象やフクロウ、鳥などの動物たちや、太陽(スーリャ)や月(チャンドラ)などのモチーフと、揺らすとチリンチリンかわいい音色で鳴るベルとのマッチングがとっても素敵です。
ハンギングは、全て手作りで一つ一つ丁寧に作られていますので、素朴な温かさや優しさが感じられる1品です。無骨な風合いが魅力的です。
ベルの振り子を囲むパーツ、そして上部の蓋になる部分。その他すべてのパーツを主にハンマーを使って叩き、組み合わせることで作られています。
これだけ手間をかけているからこそ、この独特の風合いと優しい音色になります。
■伝統的な塗装方法
独特なアンティーク感ある金色は、一般的な塗装ではありません。美しい見た目だけではなく、長持ちさせるためにも銅メッキは必要なのですが、古来から続く原始的なメッキが施されています。
まず、形が出来上がったベルなどに泥汁をつけて、その泥汁に絡ませるようにして銅粉など金属の粉をベルに付着させます。その後、さらに泥で覆い窯で熱することで、金色にコーティングされます。
