He is a dyer, an educator, an artist and an expressionist. We will explore the fascination of this artist, who continues to be active even today. The culmination of Shamaro Yuzuki's 100th birthday. Shayaro Yuzuki as a dyer, craftsman, educator, designer, artist, and expressionist. This exhibition catalogue is composed of his multiple faces (artist), the expression (works) created by the fusion of each element, and the process of creation (education) at Joshibi (women's art school). While focusing on the characteristic themes of Yuzuki's works, the exhibition explores the artist's diverse way of life and production over the past 100 years of her life, and the appeal of her works, which continue to be even more dynamic today. The book is a compilation of about 150 works by Shayaro Yuzuki, including dyeing, stencil dyeing, glass painting, and bookbinding from the 1950s to the 2000s, artwork for the Ace Hotel Kyoto opening in 2020, and his latest collaborative products with IDEE. Shayaro Yuzuki Dye artist, born in Tokyo in 1922. He started his career in dyeing after encountering Yanagi Muneyoshi's "folk art" and Keisuke Serizawa's calendars. While creating many works including stencil dyeing and dyed pictures, he also taught at Joshibi University of Art and Design. She also works on picture books, prints, and three-dimensional works. |
