| Shigaraki*Seto*Tokoname*Echizen*Tanba*Bizen*The Six Old Kilns of Japan: Shigaraki*Seto*Tokoname*Echizen*Tanba*Bizen, which was registered as a Japanese Heritage in 2017. Shigaraki ware is one of these, and is loved by many people for its traditional techniques and craftsmen's wisdom that produce a gentle texture with the unique flavor of Shigaraki clay and warm fire colors woven by the flames. *The history of Shigaraki raccoon dog figurines is relatively short, and the first one is said to have been made by Tetsuzo Fujiwara, a potter, in the Meiji period. *Raccoon dogs are appreciated as good luck charms, and are often placed in front of the eaves of stores as a fashionable way to promote business, since raccoon dogs are associated with "overtaking others. ★信楽の狸の置物の歴史は比較的浅く、明治期に陶芸家の藤原銕造が作ったものが最初と言われています。
★狸は縁起物と喜ばれ、狸が「他を抜く」に通じることから商売繁盛と洒落て店の軒先に置かれることが多い。信楽八相縁起に因んで福福とした狸が編み笠を被り少し首をかしげながら右手に徳利、左手に通帳を持って突っ立ている、「酒買い小僧」型が定番となっています。
