[Roller-printed textile (copper roller printing) is a general term for machine-printed cloth that was born during the Industrial Revolution. This fascinating cloth, produced mainly in Manchester but also in Japan and Germany in later years, was the envy of the world in the 16th century, and threatened Indian textiles and the craftsmen who worked on them. Today, they are antiques and valuable documents that provide a history of trends, aesthetics, and technological innovations of the time. This book presents a selection of beautiful and precious textiles from the vast collection of Savarsh Sharma and Jatin Sharma, a long-time antique dealer in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. With commentary by Pramod Kumar KG, an Indian researcher and curator, and Philip A. Sykus, a long-time British researcher on textiles.

Jatin Sharma ...... Apparel producer and collector. She started her career at the age of 17 at her father and uncle's antique store [Rajasthan*Fabrics*and*Arts] in Jaipur, India, and established her own clothing brand [Satyam*Gurtex] in 2005 to revive the beauty of traditional Indian handicrafts and folk costumes with a modern interpretation. Sykas began his career in textile research. 2000 his doctoral thesis was on the design, technology, and business of 19th century calico printers' pattern books, and he has since done extensive research on textile prints in Europe. In 2022, he completed a comprehensive historical documentation of the calico printing industry, commercial textile cargo, and the waste textile industry in three volumes. In parallel with his research, he is currently consulting extensively on the creation of company archives and the dating of printed textiles in the UK.
