Description
*Soba-no-Inokuchi [National Treasure, Caricatures of birds, animals and humans] (2 types)* Heian period, Lent by Kozanji temple. The popular Birds, Animals, and Caricatures bowls have been renewed and reissued. The soba inokuchi, which serves as a multi-cup, can be used not only for dipping noodles, but also as a small bowl for side dishes or a cup for brewing tea or coffee. The design of famous scenes is placed all the way around the cup, so it looks cute from any angle, It is a must-have for fans of caricatures of birds and animals. * Introduction of the work * Heian - Kamakura period, Lent by Kozanji Temple This is a picture scroll consisting of four scrolls, A, B, C, and D. The first scroll is a caricature of anthropomorphic figures. Scroll A is the most popular among the four scrolls, as it depicts anthropomorphic animals in a spontaneous manner. The author of the scroll is said to be the Toba priest Kakuyu (1053-1140), but there is no proof, and various theories exist. Recent research has revealed that the order of the paintings has been changed since the original. It is thought that this is because they were originally divided into two volumes and then joined together. Official recognition by Kozan-ji Temple Our [Caricatures of Birds, Beasts, and Humans] series has been commercialized with the permission of Kozanji Temple (Kyoto), where the works are kept. A portion of the purchase price will be donated to Kozanji Temple, The money is used to support the preservation of the temple's cultural assets and the maintenance of the temple's grounds. |
