Description
Sotou is mainly used as a zazen cushion in Soto Zen temples. This size contains 700 g of cotton and is made hard for sitting for a long time. Due to its hardness, it is also used as a lumbar pillow by many people who experience back pain. It is a product that combines the comfort of sitting on the floor with an appearance that fits well with Western lifestyles, and has recently been used as a zabuton for seiza (sitting on the floor). The characteristic of Platz zabuton is its sitting comfort. The cushion is designed to release pressure from the top to the sides, which allows for firm pressure dispersion. It is hard to put pressure on the buttocks, so you can spend a comfortable time even if you sit for a long time. Indian cotton, which is strong and suitable for cushioning, and hollow fiber, which is excellent in moisture dissipation, are used for the filling. It is fluffy, does not get damp, and does not wear out easily even after prolonged use. [About Platz] Platz Co., Ltd. was established in Nishijin in the 1887's and opened a store in Saga Arashiyama when the processing factory moved to the area. Platz's handmade cushions have been featured in anan, Sarai, Figaro Japon, etc.... Our handmade zabuton have been introduced in many magazines, TV, FM, AM, etc., and are also used in temples, shrines, and famous ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants) all over Japan. All products are manufactured in Japan. [Platz's cushions] We aim to create products with warmth, focusing on the comfort of natural materials. We aim to create products with warmth. Zabuton derives from tatami mats. Ancient tatami mats served as both bedding and seating, and were an expression of status and authority. The seating part of the tatami developed into the prototype of the zabuton, the shitone. In the Kamakura period (1185-1333), with the resumption of cotton imports and improvements in production technology, people began to use cloth for the side, and by the middle of the Edo period (1603-1867), it had taken on almost its present form with cotton inside the fabric. However, it was not until the Taisho period (1912-1926) that it became popular among the general public. |
