First book published by Seigensha of Kyoto and produced by designshop, showing the charm of Nambu Tekki Kamasada Koubou Nambu ironware, a traditional craft representing Iwate with a 400-year history. Its history, techniques, and features are explained. Mr. Nobuho Miya, the third generation of [Kamasada], a Nambu ironware craftsman and designer, introduces the charm of Nambu ironware that enriches our daily life in the modern age. This is the first book by Kamasada, which proposes Nambu ironware as modern and beautiful daily necessities while inheriting reliable techniques. This book also introduces how to care for Nambu ironware [tetsubin] [tetsubin] [tetsubin pot] [tetsubin] [tetsubin] [tetsubin pan]. We hope you will enjoy using Nambu ironware for a long time. This book includes landscape photos taken in Morioka, the town where Nambu ironware was born, photos of Kamasada's workshop, and Kamasada's product lineup (about 120 items). He studied at Kanazawa College of Art and the graduate school of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he deepened his research on materials in parallel with creating artworks. While continuing to develop traditional techniques, he also aims to create ironware as a tool for daily life, incorporating a modern sense of style. He has exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum (U.K.), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (U.S.A.), and the Salone del Mobile (Milan), and has had solo exhibitions in Stockholm. He has also been active in Japan, restoring and producing the national treasure Chuson-ji Konjikido, receiving the Iwate Prefecture Outstanding Engineer Award, and being certified as a traditional craftsman. His mature technique shines through in his form, which is stripped down to the utmost limit with an eye for function. |
