Description
Fate brings a young girl, Icalu, to civilized Tokyo, where she assists an old man who is researching a mysterious phenomenon in the old storehouse of a museum in Ueno. Set in a museum that has just come into existence in Japan, this mysterious long story depicts a case in which a mystery leads to a mystery. In the 16th year of Meiji (1881), Ikaru Hanaoka, the daughter of an antique dealer from Osaka, arrives in civilized Tokyo. When she visits the Ueno Museum on an errand for her relative Toyo, she is recognized by the director as a connoisseur and ends up helping Kenji Oda (aka Tonosama), who is studying the mysterious in the museum's old storehouse. Under Tonosama's direction, Icalu begins to organize the storehouse, but after checking the ledgers against the collection, he discovers that someone has taken the only item in the storehouse, a black-tebako (a black box). Who in the world had stolen it and for what purpose? What is the secret hidden in this box, which is rumored to be an item associated with hidden Christians? |
