Description
Designed with a focus on the texture of iron produced in Mizusawa, the birthplace of Nambu tetsui, Hisao Iwashimizu / Kukan Kastetsu / Tetsubin MOON Kukan Kasto has a workshop in Mizusawa, where Nambu ironware production is flourishing. Representative Hisao Iwashimizu continues to produce simple and modern Nambu tetsubin that fit comfortably into modern life. [Hisao Iwashimizu is particular about "iron-ness," and uses the "raw mold" method to bring out the expression, texture, and color of the iron. Nama-gata is a traditional mass-production technique in which sand is pressed into a mold and iron is poured into the mold. Although it is a mass-production method, this technique gives the iron itself an interesting expression, and it is also a technique that is free from superfluous decoration. The texture of the iron itself is enhanced by the absence of superfluous decoration. The kyusu [Egg] is characterized by its lovely rounded form. [The surface finished with a technique called "yakihada-hakoshi" (burnished surface polishing) is rich in flavor and brings out the character of iron. The inside is enameled to retain heat. The small size is lighter than expected and easy to use for women. Hisao Iwashimizu Born in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in 1964, Iwashimizu began working as a designer in 1989 before moving into the world of cast metal in 1992. He became independent in 2009 and launched [Space Casting]. He is based in Mizusawa-ku, Ozu City, Iwate Prefecture, where he creates iron works. He has held many solo exhibitions in various locations. |
