Description
Creativity & Sustainability that has not faded over the past 30 years Takashi Kanome / MOLD MOCO MOLD (paper mold) is a paper molding product made by dissolving used paper in water, intertwining them, and forming and drying them in a mold. It is widely used in our daily lives as packaging and cushioning materials. Designer/artist Hisashi Kaname has designed many familiar packages for Shiseido [Super Mild], Nestle [Nescafe Exela], and others, and was also active as an artist. One day more than 30 years ago, he happened to come across a cushioning material called "pulp mold" and was impressed by its unique "warmth" and "sense of life. The MOLD series is a recyclable product* package and art work that uses used paper as raw material and returns it to the earth after it has served its purpose for a certain period of time. Except for a small amount of waterproofing material mixed in, the MOLD series is made almost entirely from recycled paper and water. It is surprising to see that the design is not only full of individuality, but also embodies the concept of "sustainability," which is becoming increasingly popular in the 2020s. The MOLD series has temporarily disappeared from the market due to various reasons, but now the Kaname Office, a paper trading company, Takeo Corporation, and Designshop have decided to reintroduce the series to the world. Moco has a cute yet somehow mysterious atmosphere. Two colors are available: Kinari and black, which bring out the original color of the material. The top part is a lid and can be used as a small container. The material is also used as a cushioning material, so it has a solid feel to it, contrary to its fuzzy appearance. The palm-sized size is perfect for storing your favorite accessories. The asymmetrical and organic form makes it look like a living thing. It will surely be of great use as art to decorate your interior or as a small accessory box. *Takashi Kanome / Takashi Kanome Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Department of Oil Painting. He has designed packaging for Shiseido and other daily necessities, and has left behind many works that stimulate the world of design, craft, and art by freely using the expression of various materials. His work has been exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, won the 2009 Package Design Grand Prix Gold Award, and received the New York ADC Award. |
