Description
Osaka University Archives(ed.) This is the first introductory book on archives studies compiled for the general public and students. You can learn about the origins and work of the institution that manages public records [archives] and the professional staff who manage them [archivists], as well as the issues that need to be addressed. What are public records, where and how are they selected, left behind, and made available to the public? Archives are a mirror of the nation, for better or worse, but in Japan there is very little interest in the archives of one's own country compared to the famous archives in the United States. This presentation will provide background and examples of archives not only in law, history, and local government, but also in boards of education and corporate archives, and will convey the underlying issues of importance and challenges. It also includes information on the work of archivists in the digital age. |
