Description
Playing with flowers at Suikaan 30 years since her debut in a quarterly magazine [Ginka], she has been quietly opening up her own unique world. As I admire the beauty of paper, I want to draw something that will enhance the beauty of the paper. It is not always a picture. Sometimes it is hand-drawn characters such as typography. Japanese bound books, hanging scrolls, postage stamps and karuta: ...... I am also interested in the shape of paper. [This is the first collection of works by Fujio Kawagishi, a contemporary painter who captures on paper the beauty that accompanies paper. Fujio Kawagishi Born in Gunma, 1952. Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Graphic Design. While working at a company, he started to produce a hand-painted book "Suika" in 1977, and held his first solo exhibition in 1989 when 10 copies of "Suika" were introduced in the quarterly magazine "Ginka" (No. 78). In 1992, he resigned from his job to devote himself to painting. He has held solo exhibitions at galleries in Tokyo and elsewhere. |
