Description
By Tatsutaro Akasaka -Reading Sartre's Philosophy of the Early Period In human life, something that can only be described as an idea naturally comes to life. In this book, I call this "metaphysics," following Sartre's usage, and place it at the center of the discussion. (From the "Foreword") This book is a reading of the thought of the 20th century French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, with a particular focus on the ontology of his early thought. Sartre has traditionally been spoken of with a kind of heaviness, along with the terms [existentialism] and [participation-angermanism], and his philosophy is often regarded as anthropocentrism, which has been replaced by structuralism in later years. This book revisits Sartre's early thought from the perspectives of [metaphysics] and [ontology], and challenges to present a new image of Sartre by rereading writing (authorship, works) and existence, philosophy and existence, and phenomenological ontology, using his main work [Being and Nothingness] as a springboard, and comparing them with the trajectory of Sartre's own first half of life. Through careful rereading of materials and vivid comparison with Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty of the same period, he has revealed that Sartre's ontology presents an ontology that sheds light on the uniqueness of human life, which is conducted while creating alternatives to a given reality, an ontology that is open and airy. A groundbreaking study. |
