A New General History of World History from a Gender Perspective What are the [people] who have shaped history? Rethinking the [modern citizen] model! People in this world have diverse attributes such as age, physical characteristics, gender identity, and sexual orientation, but nations and societies often simplify them and assign them desirable roles and behaviors. Gender, in particular, is a fundamental part of the definition of [people]. This volume examines the structure of gender in human life from historical perspectives in the areas of [body*person], [reproduction*life], [sexuality*sexuality], [body management*body expression], and [sexual violence*sex trafficking]. In Chapter 1, we will question the view of the body*life in each culture, and comparatively and historically clarify how [beingness] as a social norm is constructed and how [people] are categorized and differentiated. Chapter 2 discusses the female body as a birthing body, the life of the child to be born, and population policy* demographics. Chapter 3 identifies the various ways of sexuality*marriage in history and focuses on the comparative history of the ways of LGBTQ people. Chapter 4 examines the cultural nature of [health] and gender bias in physical depictions and representations of the body. Chapter 5 describes the comparative culture of the history of sexual violence and prostitution. *Features of this series. The distinctive feature of this series as a general history of world history is that instead of focusing on [big stories] such as [nations, politics, diplomacy, and economics], the series is structured by placing life-size [people] at the center and gradually moving into themes such as the family and community surrounding them, the global economy, and colonialism. The model of modern civil society that underlies modern historiography implicitly regards [healthy and autonomous adult men] as its primary bearers, but this has also led to the exclusion of women and the socially vulnerable from history. This series aims not only to introduce the findings of gender history on each topic of history, but also to renew the narrative of world history itself, based on the understanding that [people] are, in the first place, both caregivers and care receivers. |
