Satoshi Kako, who passed away in 2018, left behind a manuscript of some 240 small stories, which he personally edited and categorized into different types of stories. These are [animal stories], [Japanese folktales], [stories from everyday life], and [stories from around the world]. He edited the stories that had not yet been published in books, or that had appeared in magazines or as picture storyboards, by altering and illustrating them until just before he passed away. Each volume is full of interesting stories for children from young children who have begun to read to elementary school age children, and can be read from any part of the story.
Volume 6 is one of three [stories in daily life [part 1]]. Many of the stories drawn by Kako-san depict children's lives. The aim of these stories was to foster an eye for society and to solve problems through democratic discussions in the context of daily life. Against the backdrop of postwar democracy, many works were created in line with this concept. Kako-san, in her own way, depicts children thinking for themselves, expanding their imagination, and working creatively in a positive and humorous way through their casual daily life and play. Seventeen stories are included here.
