Description
Satoshi Kako, who passed away in 2018, left behind a manuscript of some 240 small stories, which he personally edited and categorized into different types of stories. These are [animal stories], [Japanese folktales], [stories from everyday life], and [stories from around the world]. He edited the stories that had not yet been published in books, or that had appeared in magazines or as picture storyboards, by altering and illustrating them until just before he passed away. Each volume is full of interesting stories for children from young children who have begun to read to elementary school age children, and can be read from any part of the story. Volume 4 is the [Japanese folktales [part 1]] of the two volumes. When Kako-san gave lectures in the countryside, she enjoyed hearing about old tales directly from people who knew the local history well. He collected many stories and wrote creative folktales. Folktales have been passed down from generation to generation with great care and there is much wisdom in them that we should cherish in our daily lives. The collection contains 32 stories, including the well-known [Tengu no Hana Hana], [Nokibaton Tonton], [Urikohime and Amanjaku], [Kuro of Oniganji], a story from when there were wolves in Japan, and a story about Kuzuryu in Fukui Prefecture, Kako's hometown. |
