Description
In a career spanning six decades, concept artist/designer Ron Cobb has left behind a legacy of artwork for science fiction films that has had a profound impact on future generations. From the DeLorean in Back to the Future and the Nostromo in Aliens to the interior of the mother ship in Encounter of the Unknown, the Conan character in Conan the Great and the creature Hammerhead in Star*Wars... Sadly, he passed away in September 2020 at the age of 83, but his accomplishments are immeasurable. This book is a collection of artwork that showcases Ron*Cobb's work by piece (including unproduced work). The book features many of Ron*Cobb's artworks that combine formative and functional beauty, including early to final design drawings, blueprints, sketches, logos, and more. The book also has a biographical aspect, as many testimonies from directors such as James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis, and Paul Verhoeven, who trusted his talent, as well as staff members who worked with him on the production of the films, reveal the production situation and secret stories of the time, and Ron Cobb's lovable personality. The original book was released on September 13, 2022. This is the Japanese edition supervised* and translated by art director/film writer Yoshiki Takahashi. |
