Description
Layered Structure of Sacred Places and Ancient Strata of the Heart by Shinichi Nakazawa and Toshio Kawai The present age is the age of [geo This is a compilation of lectures given by Shinichi Nakazawa, a thinker* and cultural anthropologist, and Toshio Kawai, a clinical psychologist* and Jungian analyst, at a training seminar of the Japan Association of Jungian Analysts, and the discussion that followed. Based on the idea that the human psyche is a product of and encompassed by nature, Dr. Nakazawa has been an "earth diver" who investigates the topography and history in order to explore the structure of places where human spiritual activity is extremely deep. In the spring of 2021, he compiled the results of his investigations of "sacred sites" throughout Japan into a book titled "Earth Diver Shrine Edition. [The layered structure of the psyche that Mr. Nakazawa has discovered through his investigation of the special natural topography of the "sacred places" and their connection to the spiritual activities and history that have developed on the land is, for Mr. Kawai, a perfect fit with the layers of the psyche that he has sensed in his psychotherapy and that cannot be captured by symbols alone. He says that it is something that makes sense to him. * "The book is a collection of articles written by Nakazawa in the first part of the book. The book begins with Nakazawa's lecture in the first part. How did the relationship between humans and nature change during the transition from the Paleolithic Age to the Neolithic Age, and how was the concept of "symbols" born and connected to the concept of God in the process? The second part of the lecture will discuss the birth of human consciousness and its transition, intertwining nature (=geo) and history. The second part of the lecture will be given by Kawai, who will read Nakazawa's book [Earth Diver Shrine Edition] in detail from the perspective of an analytical psychologist. As he discusses the contents of each topic and theme in relation to the ancient layers of the mind and compares them with Jungian psychology, it becomes clear that the two disciplines are gradually beginning to resonate with each other. Finally, in the third part, Nakazawa adds additional comments and supplements to Kawai's lecture in the second part, leading to a light-hearted discussion backed by his extensive knowledge and insights. * "The two scholars will now discuss the history of the Kokoro region. As the two scholars study and pursue the ancient layers of the mind together, they may find answers to the essential and philosophical questions of what the mind (= spirit) is and what human beings are, from a perspective that has never been seen before. This book will surely open up new horizons of study for us to live through the coming age. This book is the first step toward that possibility. |
