ひと昔前では、いえ、今でも
お持ちの方はいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、
キックボクシングと言えば、殴る蹴る、
いわゆる「男の闘い」というイメージがあったかと思います。
もちろん、それもキックボクシングの
ひとつの側面であり、
魅力的な部分でもあります。
しかし、僕が本書で伝えたいキックボクシングの魅力は
「全身をバランス良く使う、非常に効率の良いスポーツ」
だという部分です。
さらには、勝敗の関わる競技として取り組まなければ、
危険の伴うスポーツではない、ということです。
ですので、老若男女、どの世代においても、
カラダを労わりつつも、
楽しんで頂けるものだと思っています。
僕のお客さんには、60代〜90代まで、
いわゆるシニア世代の方が多くいらっしゃいますが、
みな各自のレベル各自のペースで、
楽しみながら全身を使って
キックボクシングをしています。
筋力低下により、松葉杖をついていた90代の男性が
リハビリとしてキックボクシングに取り組み、
杖なしの生活を取り戻したという事例もありました。
そのような90代の方の
キックボクシングを見ている僕としては、
60代70代の方は若手だと思っています。
まだまだ伸びる若手です。
