Max Klinger (1857-1920), a versatile German artist, is regarded as a pioneer of Surrealism and was active from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century as a producer of fantastic prints alongside Redon.

Of the 14 print series he produced during his lifetime, five print collections from the museum's collection, [Eve and the Future] (Op. III), [Interlude] (Op. IV), [Glove] (Op. VI), [A Love] (Op. X) and [Brahms' Illusion] (Op. VIII).
